Leia Inc.: Could you introduce yourself and provide some background on your creative journey?

Archana: My name is Archana Aneja, and I call myself an interdisciplinary artist now because I work in so many different creative fields, each one equally fulfilling. My journey began in architecture—I have a master’s degree in architecture and worked as an architectural designer for about a decade in Michigan. I was fortunate to work on some fantastic public safety projects for companies like Verizon and several police stations and courthouses.

In 2012, I moved to Germany with my husband, who works for Daimler, and by then, we had two young kids. That move to Stuttgart was a turning point for me. Being in a new country, I rediscovered my first love—painting. I started creating abstract artwork, which quickly turned into something bigger than I ever imagined. I had my first exhibition in Sindelfingen, Germany, and from there, opportunities kept coming. I even showcased my work in Milan and participated in Art Expo in New York, all within my first few years of painting.

Leia Inc.: That’s amazing! It sounds like your time in Germany really shaped you as an artist.

Archana: Yes, it was transformative. I always had this creative energy, but Germany gave me the space and inspiration to focus on it fully. It was humbling, too. In Germany, there’s a phrase “Das Beste oder nichts,”which means “the best or nothing.” I learned that art is about more than just money or recognition—it's about passion and creating something meaningful. That mentality has stayed with me ever since. For the past ten years, I’ve focused on creating art that’s driven by beauty, consciousness, and inclusivity. It’s been a deeply personal journey.

Leia Inc.: Would you say your background in architecture still influences your art?

Archana: Definitely. Architecture gave me a strong foundation in design, spatial awareness, and structure, and those skills naturally flow into my artwork. Whether I’m painting or designing wearable art, there’s always a connection to form and space. I think in three dimensions, which makes my work feel sculptural, even when it’s on a flat canvas.

Leia Inc.: After Germany, you moved back to Michigan, right? How did that impact your work?

Archana: Yes, in 2016, we moved back to Michigan for my husband’s job. That was another shift for me. I had the option to return to my architecture firm, but by then, I had two kids, and I wanted more flexibility. Architecture can be all-consuming, and I felt a strong pull to pursue my art full-time. So, I decided to work from home, which allowed me to balance my family life with my creative pursuits. It wasn’t easy, but it was the right choice. My husband has been incredibly supportive, which has been key. He recognized the potential in my art and encouraged me to focus on it fully.

Leia Inc.: You’ve mentioned abstract art, wearable art, and more recently, digital art. How have you incorporated technology, especially AI, into your creative process?

Archana: AI has been a real game-changer for me. I started experimenting with platforms like DALL-E and MidJourney, which opened up a new world of possibilities. These tools allow me to translate my ideas into reality almost instantly. I love the mix of digital and physical work, and AI helps me push the boundaries of what’s possible. It’s not just about typing a few words and generating an image—there’s a lot of depth to it. Your experiences and artistic vision determine how far you can go with these tools.

For example, I’ve used AI-generated designs to create digital prints for fabrics. I’ve also integrated it into wearable art, which is something I’m really passionate about. The digital realm has opened up so many new avenues for expression.

Leia Inc.: That’s fascinating. Can you tell us more about your wearable art projects?

Archana: Sure! Wearable art is an extension of my abstract paintings. I started experimenting with turning my paintings into digital fabric prints, and that led me to create custom garments. My pieces are more artistic than practical; they’re meant to be statement pieces, showcased at events like New York Fashion Week or LA Fashion Week. I also love blending different materials—acrylic paint, lace, cardboard, even AI-generated designs—to create something truly unique. My work is more than just fashion; it's about merging art with human experience.

Leia Inc.: You’ve had quite the journey, from architecture to abstract art to wearable art. Can you share a specific project that stands out for you?

Archana: One project that I’m particularly proud of is a wearable art collection based on AI-generated designs. I started with digital artwork that I created through AI platforms, and then I transformed those images into fabric patterns. I’ve shown some of these pieces in New York and LA, but my work isn’t about mass production or making a quick profit. It’s about creating something that resonates, something that tells a story. When I see someone wearing a garment that started as a digital concept, it’s incredibly fulfilling.

Echoes of the Past

Leia Inc.: It sounds like you’re constantly exploring new creative fields. How do you feel about the future of art in the digital age, especially with the riseof AI and generative art?

Archana: I’m optimistic about it. AI and generative art are amazing tools, but they do not replace human creativity. It’s not enough to just generate an image. What makes art meaningful is the personal connection—the story, the intention behind the piece. As artists, we must bring our experiences into the work to make it stand out.

AI has made it easier for artists to experiment without the limitations of traditional mediums. Now, I can explore any idea without worrying about logistics or materials. I don’t have to fly somewhere to attend a show or hire an entire team. It’s empowering. But at the end of the day, it still comes down to how you communicate your vision and what you're trying to say through your art.

Leia Inc.: You mentioned your 3D background in architecture. How does that play into your work today?

Archana: 3D thinking is second nature to me because of my architectural training. That’s why I’ve been drawn to 3D modeling and digital fashion. I’ve started incorporating augmented reality into my work, using platforms like LumePad to visualize my designs in 3D. It’s a game-changer for someone like me who is used to thinking spatially.

I can create digital garments, show them in 3D,and even place them in real-world environments through augmented reality. I’m also experimenting with platforms like ZBrush and CLO to create detailed 3Dmodels. Being able to see my designs in 360 degrees before they’re even made physically is incredible. It’s a whole new way of working, and I’m excited to keep pushing those boundaries.

Leia Inc.: You’re working with cutting-edge technology. Where do you see your work going in the future?

Archana: I see my work continuing to evolve with technology. I’m really interested in augmented reality and how that can change the way we experience art and fashion. I also want to explore more collaborations between the physical and digital worlds. My goal is to keep blending traditional art with new technologies to create something that feels innovative and unique. There are so many possibilities, and it feels like we’re just scratching the surface.

Leia Inc.: What advice would you give to other artists who want to explore digital and generative art?

Archana: My advice is to explore fearlessly but stay true to your own voice. Don’t get caught up in trends or the pressure to create something just because it's popular. Your experiences, your background, and your perspective are what will set you apart. Use AI and digital tools as a way to enhance your work, not replace your creativity. Stay curious and keep experimenting. The technology is there to support your vision, but it’s your personal story that will make your art stand out.
